Skatepark Assistant – Kickstart
The kickstart scheme provides funding for a six-month work placements from the start date of employment for 16-24-year-olds who are claiming Universal Credit, and are at risk of long term unemployment
The placements will be for a minimum of 25 hours a week
Placements are paid at the relevant National Minimum Wage for the employee’s age, and national insurance and minimum pension contributions are also covered

Junction 4 Skatepark is a not for profit organisation and must comply with the responsibilities set out by companies house.
Junction 4 is a unique extreme sports facility offering a number of opportunities in extreme sports including Scooter riding,BMX, skateboard and in-line skates.
The venue also facilitates birthday parties, school holiday clubs, Private hire, meeting space and conferencing.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and suitably experienced individual, passionate about what goes on in the extreme sports world, willing to share ideas and to assist us in keeping our Skatepark a vibrant and fun place to visit.
The successful candidate will join a hardworking but friendly team, whose commitment to the success of Junction 4 makes it a great place to work.
The role also involves ensuring the safety and well-being of all users and handling and reporting any accidents/incidents as required. This will be a role which is customer-facing as well as internally focused and will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a calm manner, and an understanding of the extreme sports culture and activities.

Skate Park Assistant Tasks
To assist the team in running the park as per the policies and procedures and ensure that users follow Junction 4 Skatepark’s policies and safety procedures at all times.
Ensure the Skatepark is clean, ready to open on time and continue to monitor to keep it clean and tidy at all times providing adequate supervision of the Skatepark during your assigned hours. To ensure that all ramps and equipment are well maintained and checked before every session and event, reporting immediately any defects. Continually ensuring that riders have a safe environment to ride in and any hazards identified are dealt with in every session. Report accidents/ incidents to the Centre Manager and complete accident reports, as required.
To staff the reception which will include taking payments, checking and inputting data, updating the database, answering phone calls, sales of equipment, food/beverages, taking bookings and dealing with general queries. Providing excellent customer service and interacting courteously with the public and users of the skatepark. To have knowledge of the products and services offered by the facility and to be able to communicate these effectively to the public.
To help promote the park and what it has to offer via various media outlets, actively assist in encouraging young people to use the Skatepark and take an active role in promoting it.
Look after Skatepark equipment and supplies in an organised and responsible manner. Sign-out equipment as required and maintain an up to date record of all equipment, and its condition taking action if needed.
Support the Skatepark team and Managers to lead activity programmes on the Skatepark for a variety of age groups as required, assist in the organising and delivery of events with the team. To support the team with the development of the facility. To work as part of the team to make the wider public aware of the opportunities that the facility can offer. To assist the team to forge relationships with schools, groups and other outside organisations where applicable.
Maintain a proactive approach to the role and responsibilities, along with a commitment to enable and sustain Junction 4 Skatepark’s positive and inclusive vision, values and ethos. Maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality with participants, staff and volunteers.
Attend and fully participate in staff meetings, appraisals, and team development sessions when requested.
Undertake any training and development deemed necessary to gain and improve appropriate skills. Undertake basic first aid training.
The post holder will be required to work evenings and weekends.

Person Specification: Skate Park Assistant
|At least 12 months’ experience of skating/BMX/Scooter and being involved in this industry and network||
